You often see me walking on the gram right?
I swear that my #walkouts have been my only form of exercise during the last year.
I am proof that you can walk the weight off.
Please don’t think you can eat Maccas, go for a walk and expect to lose weight though. Sadly it is not that easy. I started my weight loss journey a year ago around this time and I think it’s a great time to start if you need a little motivation.
Just because it’s the silly season does not make it okay to drink and eat like crazy. I am not saying deprive yourself in anyways, it is time to catch up with friends and family and let our hair down a little after all. All I am saying is make more mindful decisions when it comes to your food and alcohol intake and don’t forget to #walkout or do a class at the gym. Stay active and keep focused if you are trying to lose weight or maintain your weight over the holiday season.
Instead of waiting for the good old New Year resolution, I thought it would be fun to put together a simple challenge to keep myself motivated and maybe get a few of you on board to take part too. Most of us will be getting time off over Christmas break so I thought it would be a great time for some of you to start that motivation now.
We all know that life can get in the way, its ok to miss one day, maybe Christmas day LOL. Don’t beat yourself up if you miss a day cause ‘life got busy’ or Mother Nature called, it is Melbourne afterall. If you know it’s going to be a scorcher get up early for a walk or walk in the late evening. Sadly we can’t control the weather. But try and push yourself when you can.
Please note you can walk more if you want to!
How to #walkout
- Walk on the treadmill if you’re at the gym
- Take the kids for a stroll in their prams
- Walk on your lunch break if you’re working
- Walk the dog
- Walk up and down your house (great if the weather is not cooperating)
- Rather than go on a boozy brunch with your bestie, grab a coffee and catch up whilst walking. I love doing this
- Go for a walk and check out all the Christmas lights at night in your suburb
Print this challenge off or save it in your phone and tag me in your Instagram stories! Let’s #walkout together. I have even given you two rest days per week, but feel free to walk on them if you want, or adjust your rest days to suit your schedule.
An app I love to use is Map your walk and it’s free! It is great to monitor your distance walked and calories burnt.
There are simple ways to get your daily walk in if you really want to. I hope my walkout challenge motivates you to start making positive changes to your health and fitness goals, all ready for the New Year and beyond.
