My New Skin Care Routine

I admire all you beautiful bloggers and youtubers putting up posts about your skincare routines, but I have a dirty confession. My current skincare routine does not exist this year. Besides the occasional dab on my skin using whatever cleanser I get sent (if I am in the mood) there is not much else I do at the moment for my skin care!

Funny enough, I get compliments on my skin all the time. I drink a lot of water and as cliché as that sounds, I personally think my skin appears healthier due to that and the fact that I don’t wear any foundation during the week to work. I will only wear makeup if I have a birthday or blog related event, and when working the clubs on the weekends. Why don’t I wear makeup? I am just lazy. At some stage I want to challenge myself to wear make up every day for a month, but more on that another time.

I literally have PR packs from last year that I have not used. I apologies for this. I get so much sent to me it can be overwhelming to get through it all. Unless I see a massive difference in a short amount of time I don’t think I can write about the range until all the product are finished. Bit hard when they are still sitting in the boxes right? Again apologies, I have just not been in the right head space and have not been looking after myself as well as I should. But it’s August, and it is time to start new habits. Plus, I’m turning 30 next month so I need to up my skin care, especially when transitioning from Winter to Spring.

So, I went through my draws and opened items to put together a range of skincare for a routine that I will try and stick to.

What I found and how I will use it in my new routine:

When I’m running late for work:

I have been a fan of Cinch Skincare since receiving the face cheat moisturizer + glow when I started my blogging. I basically spray and go (perfect for the lazy skincare girls like moi)

I was really excited when I saw the range grow. Cinch has since brought out a cream moisturiser + glow which I have been using over the last few weeks and love it as its quite thick but hydrating. A little goes a long way. I also received the FACE IT 5 in 1 cleansing water + go which I have not used. I plan on using the two together for when I am running late to work. A cleanse for my face and eyes and I don’t even have to rinse.

Shower time:

The one thing I have been sticking to is using a cleanser in the shower. Mem too (he will prob kill me for writing this) but my man enjoys a cleanser or exfoliator for his face in the shower.

We are currently using QV face gentle foaming cleanser & Neutrogena visibly clear spot proofing 2 in 1 Wash/ Mask, both are cost effective. Both have been great to use in the shower.

I find when washing off mascara, it takes a few pumps to really take off all the product from my eyes. What I like about the Neutrogena 2 in 1 is I can also use the product as a mask.

On more than one occasion we have run out of soap in our household. So, I have placed a few bottles of QV products in our shower for when we are bar-less. The QV shower milk makes my skin feel so soft, but I prefer a bar of soap as I just feel cleaner when I use it. I have tried the QV Body Bar and its great. I will also try and moisturise my body but will start with my face first.

Night routine:

Funny enough I can’t seem to find a night cream from all the goodies I have received, so to ease my way into a skincare routine I will just be using some skincare products that I want to finish from Cruelty Free B even though it says day, I will still use it at night. Don’t judge me skincare bloggers. Just before bed I plan on applying a serum from Obagi Professional. I really loved the Nu-Derm gentle cleanser, so am excited to try more from this range along with the ELASTIderm Eye Cream.

Luxury weekend treats:

Even though I am an ambassador for Lancôme Official, the two products I have received are pretty pricy, so I like to use these only on the weekends. I have been loving the Advanced Génifique and Yeux Light-Pearl so luxurious and my skin really comes back to life after all the neglect it has had for almost a YEAR!

Small Doses and Travel:

During the warmer months at the start of this year I used to walk around the block on my lunch breaks. I kept a bottle of Hamilton sunscreen everyday face cream SPF 50+ in my draw, which also has a light tint.

I recently went to Perth and took some mini samples with me that I got sent at Christmas from Antipodes. They sent the Antipodes Hosanna H2O Intensive Skin-Plumping Serum & Rejoice Light Facial Day Cream. They really made my skin feel so soft within two days of using and I finished both within two weeks. My skin literally ate it up and had some life to it.

So, there you have it I have sort myself out for the next few months. I literally have everything set out ready to go to make my skincare routine an easy one, now to stick with it.

I can do this!

Have you tried any of the above products? What is your current skin care routine? Share your thoughts or post below.

  1. For someone without a skincare routine, you have a suprisingly complex routine for every occasion. I think so long as you cleanse and hydrate at a minimum you’ll be fine. And it probably helps that you eat healthy and drink loads of water x

  2. I really want to use Cinch products, they get hyped up by so many people and the face cheat sounds like my type of product!

  3. I’m really bad at remembering to do my skincare routine in the morning so I’ve been carrying a moisturizer with spf in my purse. I have an extensive nighttime routine though. Haha!
